In Ballia, SP Vikrant Veer has taken action in the case of negligence of police of Sukhpura police station. He has suspended 6 police personnel. The action was taken when one of the female accused, Gyanti Devi, escaped from police custody.

On Sunday, the police had raided the illegal liquor business in Gram Panchayat Suryapura of Sukhpura police station area. During this period 6 accused were arrested. She was being taken in a government vehicle to be produced before the court, when Gyanti Devi escaped by dodging the police.

After this incident, the Superintendent of Police suspended constable Ajit Kumar, constable Vipin Singh, constable Anant Kumar, constable Suman Pal, constable Tabassum Bano and constable Kavita Chauhan for negligence in the safety of the accused. There have been serious allegations of gross negligence, indifference, indolence and indiscipline against them.

There will be a departmental inquiry into the matter

The process of departmental inquiry will be initiated against the suspended police personnel. This decision has been taken under Rule 17(1)(a) of Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Category Police Officers’ Punishment and Appeal Rules-1991. The SP made it clear that such negligence will not be tolerated and strict action will be taken against the culprits.
