The incident was happening for three months Prem Shankar Gupta, resident of Mohalla Khubpur, has a grocery shop near the railway crossing. For the last three months, feces in black foil was being thrown in front of the shop every day. Fed up, the shopkeeper got cameras installed and on Friday, a person coming in an auto and throwing feces at the shop was caught on camera.
The accused was caught red handed When the accused Sharif came to throw feces at the shop at around 4 pm on Saturday night, Prem Shankar and his brother caught him red-handed and informed the police. The police took the accused into custody and took him to outpost Kachnar, where during interrogation he revealed his name as Sharif, resident of Kanshiram Colony. But instead of taking strict action in the matter, the police reached a compromise, due to which the shopkeeper refused to file a complaint.
When this incident became media headlines, ASP Prakash, considering the seriousness of the matter, ordered action. After this, the police registered a case against the accused Sharif under breach of peace. This delayed action of the police has raised questions on the role of the outpost in-charge. Now it remains to be seen what further steps are taken and whether the victim’s family will get justice.
