After being released from jail, he was running a call center in Goyal Complex, Indiranagar. was targeting the unemployed DCP Crime Kamlesh Dixit said that complaints of fraud in the name of job were being received for the last several days. Based on this, raids were conducted on Tuesday night in the call center running on the third floor of Goyal Complex. From where Sumendra Tiwari of Hardoi was arrested.
Investigation revealed that Sumendra along with three associates were arrested by STF on 12 September 2023 and sent to jail. Sumendra, who has done B.Tech, was earlier running this gang in Om Plaza in Indiranagar.
Cheated 300 people in five months Cyber Cell Inspector Satish Chandra Sahu said that the accused Sumendra was released in May after being in jail for seven months. As soon as he was released from jail, he started cheating again. For this, he was cheating the unemployed by opening a call center and promising them jobs. He made around 300 people his victims. During interrogation, he told that the accused earlier used to work in a call centre. Information was collected about it from there. Data of hundreds of people, about two dozen SIM cards, laptops and caller phones have been recovered from him.
Employee hired for Rs 10-15 thousand Police investigation revealed that he used to hire girls for Rs 10-15 thousand per month to work at the call centre. During the raid, 22 girls were found on the spot. Those who were released after giving notice after questioning and noting down their names and addresses.
Fake website was created to provide employment Sumendra, who ran a fraud gang, claimed to provide employment to people through a website. In which he used to upload notifications of various jobs and advertise them on social media. A fixed amount was charged in the name of registration.
After which the girls present at the call center used to call him and take money in the name of getting him to pass the interview etc. This amount varied between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 4 lakh depending on the job.
