Varun Dhawan teamed up with South sensation Samantha Ruth Prabhu in their upcoming series Citadel: Honey Bunny, directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Atlee, who rose to immense stardom for directing Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan. Produced by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, this highly anticipated series will mark Dhawan’s OTT debut. It is set to begin premiering on Amazon Prime Video on November 7. Ahead of this, the actor made a startling revelation of what Atlee says about Samantha.

In an interview, Dhawan shared how Atlee is a huge fan of Samantha’s work. The Bawaal actor mentioned that the filmmaker highly praises the actress and even calls her a ‘film star.’ For context, this is not the first time when Samantha has been working with Atlee. The filmmaker has directed the actress Samantha in films like Thalapathy Vijay’s Theri and Mersal. Varun told ETimes, “Every time we talk about Sam, Atlee sir just calls her ‘FILM STAR’.”

During another segment of the same conversation, Dhawan recalled his joyful experience while working with the South Indian sensation. However, he even described the challenges of performing the heavy action sequences together. Taking highly about her, the actor shared, “She’s an amazing co-star, she’s so professional, and always on point. When you see her, you can see someone who knows her exact joy. She’s such a good actor, and it is a lot of fun doing scenes with her and we vibed instantly. We connected on our shared passion for cinema and the joy of doing something new.”

During the same conversation, Samantha, who was also present over there, shared her side of her bonding with Varun on their film sets. “And we needed that, especially when we would do those heavy take action sequences, and we needed to be in sync, and we had to match our steps, etc. and it was excruciatingly difficult….,” said Samantha.

Citadel: Honey Bunny promises action, passion, and cinema like never before. It is the Indian chapter of Russo Brothers’ Citadel, featuring Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden. The Russo Brothers, including Anthony and Joe Russo, are serving as Executive Producers of Atlee’s Citadel: Honey Bunny.
