Sewage treatment plants are being operated in Meerut only on paper. On Thursday, city mayor Harikant Ahluwalia along with Additional Municipal Commissioner Mamta Malviya and the team suddenly went to inspect the treatment plants. The corporation team checked most of the STPs in the city. K

Payment is going but the plant is closed Mayor Harikant Ahluwalia said that he went to see Lohianagar, Kankarkheda, Modipuram Phase One, Phase Two and STP. I was receiving complaints from people about these plants for a long time. So no complete work was being done anywhere.
These plants are operational only on paper, whereas on the ground they are all closed or running incompletely. Said that the company to which MDA has given the contract is not working at all. Only the maintenance money keeps going. Nothing gets done.
All these flaws found in STP
The Mayor said that in the STP of Lohiyanagar, out of the 10 MLD capacity plant, only 2 MLD plant was working. 8 MLD was closed. When the plant starts, sludge comes out which produces fertilizer. But even sludge was not given here. Work was being done here only on paper.
Similarly, sewer line was found broken in Kankarkheda. When sewer water is not going to the plant, then whose treatment will be done? Modipuram Phase One plant found closed. All four of its generators had failed. It was revealed that the plant here was not getting diesel to run the generator for years. Out of the seven MLD capacity plants in Modipuram Phase Two, the system of 5 MLD was closed and work was being done on only 2 MLD.
