The kidnapping accused, who was being brought from Bihar in the custody of Varanasi Police, died under suspicious circumstances. The body of the accused was found in the toilet of a dhaba on Mohania-Varanasi highway.

Along with the accused, the police had also recovered the girl, who was to be revealed on Saturday. While bringing the accused and the victim, the police team had stopped at a dhaba at night to have food.
On the other hand, on receiving information about the death of a middle-aged man in the dhaba, Mohania police also reached the spot and informed the top officials about the matter. Panchnama was filled after taking possession of the body in the presence of CO Mohania.
On the other hand, after the suspicious death of the accused in police custody, there was a stir in the department, officials of Varanasi Commissionerate also rushed to the spot and informed the family members about it.
The girl went missing from the court on 23 October
The youth, resident of Pakki Bazar area of Cantt police station area, had lodged a report of his sister missing on 23 October 2024. It was told that his 16 year old younger sister is mentally disturbed and is being treated at Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay Mental Hospital.
While he was taking her to the hospital to be seen, she went missing in the crowd near the court. The family members searched but could not locate him even after several hours of effort. After this, after getting tired, he reached the police post and filed a complaint and registered a case.
After registering the case, when the police started investigating the matter, it was understood that the matter was kidnapping or luring, in the depth of the investigation, the police found the clue of the suspected accused Pancham Pandey. When the surveillance team was deployed, the location was found in Bhojpur, Bihar.
Policemen stayed at the dhaba on Banaras Highway
The police, which went to Bihar in search of a teenager from the Cantt police station area of Varanasi, caught the accused Pancham Pandey after reaching a room in Bhojpur. When the police team recovered the minor along with the accused, they also informed the officials about the good work.
After arresting the girl and the accused, when the team left for Banaras, they stopped the vehicle at a dhaba on Mohania Highway in Kaimur district. As it was night, the policemen decided to have dinner at the dhaba itself. The minor and the accused were traveling in the same car along with the team of Cantt police station.
When accused Pancham Pandey asked to go to the toilet at Mohania’s dhaba, he was sent to the toilet in the presence of a constable outside. After half an hour the constable called but Pancham Pandey did not respond. After this the door was banged but there was silence except water flowing from inside.
When the police personnel called the dhaba personnel and broke the door, Pancham Pandey was found dead inside. When they saw him, he was unconscious, after which the police hurriedly took the accused to the district hospital and informed Inspector Cantt Varanasi about the incident.
Doctors declared him dead in the hospital
Middle-aged Pancham Pandey, who came to police custody from Bhojpur Bihar, was declared dead by the doctors after investigation. The doctors considered his death suspicious and informed the local police and also made a memo. After receiving the information, the police team including SO Mohania and CO Mohania reached the hospital. After this, police officers reached the spot and investigated.
Mohania police took the body into custody and asked the police team to fill the Panchnama for post-mortem. After getting information about this, Inspector in charge of police station Cantt Rajkumar along with ACP Cantt Vidush Saxena also left for Mohania and took information about the matter.
The police also informed the relatives of the deceased about the incident and informed them about the dhaba where the team had stopped while en route. The body of the accused was found lying in the toilet, it is likely that he died of a heart attack. However, after the post-mortem of the dead body, no complaint has been given by the family members of the deceased. It was told that the wife of the deceased is a government teacher and the daughter is posted as a constable in Bihar Police.
According to Kaimur police officials, a team of area officer Mohania and CO City Kaimur has been formed to investigate the case. The post-mortem of the deceased will be conducted in the presence of police station in-charge Mohania and jurisdictional Mohania. The entire post-mortem will be videographed and further action will be taken by the team only on the basis of the investigation report.
