Ramandeep Singh has received his maiden India call-up to India’s T20I squad which will tour South Africa for a four-match T20I series in November 2024.

The all-rounder has come a long way since making a massive impression while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders during their 2024 title-winning campaign in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

While he might not have had much to do with the bat or ball, he had shown his stellar fielding prowess during the match against the Lucknow Super Giants. He once again showcased his talents on the field during India A’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup clash against Pakistan A as well.

But Ramandeep is not just a good fielder. He is one who can bat and bowl well as well. In the 56 T20s he has played, he scored 480 runs at a strike rate of 167.83 while also taking 16 wickets as well. The medium pacer has an economy rate of 7.76 which is very decent when it comes to a part-timer.

In India A’s recent semi-final clash against Afghanistan A, he showcased his class as he smashed a valiant half-century. He scored 64 runs in 34 deliveries where he smashed eight boundaries and two sixes in his knock.

Team India will certainly stand to benefit a lot when it comes to the addition of Ramandeep as they will have a proper three-dimensional cricketer who can be a force to be reckoned with in all three facets of the game.

The Indian T20I side has been seen playing part-time bowlers with several players including the captain, Suryakumar Yadav, Rinku Singh, Abhishek Sharma and others being asked to throw down a couple of overs. So Ramandeep’s addition could be a positive step towards making his mark in T20I cricket.

India’s tour of South Africa will comprise a four-match T20I series. The first match will be held on November 8 at Durban followed by the second in Gqeberha on November 10, the third game on November 13 at Centurion and the final game on November 15 at Johannesburg.
