Were harassing for dowry since marriage Neha alias Tannu Verma, daughter of Surendra Kumar Verma, resident of Shahjahanpur, was married to Ankit Verma of Farrukhabad on 3 June 2022 at Arya Samaj Mandir, Delhi. Shortly after the marriage, the in-laws started putting pressure on Neha demanding dowry. The family told that Neha had given birth to twins, yet she was continuously tortured. The maternal side tried several times to resolve the matter, but the situation remained the same.
Attempt to perform last rites without notice Neha died under suspicious circumstances on Friday morning. The in-laws took the body to Panchal Ghat for cremation without informing the parents. Meanwhile, the aunt of the deceased got the news, who immediately informed the Kotwali police. Police reached the spot, stopped the funeral and took Neha’s body into custody, while the in-laws fled from the spot.
Accusation of murder by parents The body has been sent for post-mortem. The maternal side present in the district hospital has accused the in-laws of torture and murder for dowry. City Kotwal Rajiv Pandey said that as soon as the complaint is received, a case will be registered and investigation will be started.
