In view of the Diwali festival, Food Safety and Drug Administration officials have taken major action against adulterators in various areas of the city. They raided more than 6 establishments and took samples of milk, cheese, khova and sweets.

During the raid, 13 quintals of readymade sweets, Rasgulla and Papdi Barfi were destroyed by digging a pit with a JCB. The Food Department team raided Daddy Dairy in Patti area of the district, where substandard cheese was found to be being made. In this action, 60 kg of adulterated cheese was also destroyed.
Samples and laboratory tests The Food Department has taken samples of 6 suspicious food items and sent them for laboratory testing. A raid was also conducted on Khoya Bhatti in Raniganj, where 50 kg of Khoya was destroyed. This action created panic among the adulterators and the department kept destroying substandard sweets and khova till late night.

The campaign will continue further Food Safety Officer Ajay Kumar Singh said that this campaign will continue till Diwali, so that the sale of adulterated sweets can be banned in the market. This activism of the Food Department has assured the consumers of ensuring safe food items.
