Telugu actor Vishnu Manchu and his team recently embarked on a pilgrimage to Kedarnath and Badrinath, seeking blessings for his upcoming film, Kannappa. The film is based on the tale of a man named Kannappa, a staunch devotee of the Hindu god Shiva.

Vishnu Manchu shared a video from the pilgrimage and wrote in the caption that he started his 12 Jyotirling journey with Kedarnath. “Started the journey of the 12 Jyotirlingas. The first one to visit is the holy #Kedarnath. Prayed for #Kannappa and the journey it’s going to take”, wrote the actor while sharing the video.

Vishnu Manchu, Kannappa director Mukesh Kumar Singh, producer and Manchu’s father Mohan Babu, and actor Arpit Ranka were a part of the pilgrimage. In an Instagram post on the film’s official page, the caption read, “Seeking blessings for an epic tale! @vishnumanchu and team Kannappa’s sacred journey to #Kedarnath and #Badrinath. #HarHarMahadev.”

Kedarnath and Badrinath temples hold immense cultural and religious significance in Hinduism, each being one of the Char Dham pilgrimage sites. Both Kedarnath and Badrinath attract millions of pilgrims annually. The spiritual journey to these temples is often considered a path to moksha and the temples are located in the Garhwal region of Uttarakhand.

About Kannappa, the teaser of the film was released in June 2024. It showcased stunning visuals and action sequences, led by Vishnu Manchu. The teaser also featured Mohanlal, Prabhas and Akshay Kumar.

The Kannappa team had previously expressed their desire to release the film in theatres in December 2024; however, there has been no confirmation of this.

Directed by Mukesh Kumar Singh, Kannappa boasts an ensemble cast and stars Vishnu Manchu as the titular character. Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal and Akshay Kumar have cameos in the film.

The release date for Kannappa is still in the air. Although a December release was previously hinted at, the team went silent after Game Changer secured the same release window. Now that Game Changer has been postponed to January for Sankranti, there’s an opening in December.

Due to delays from Vishnu’s team, other filmmakers, ranging from big-budget productions like Robin Hood to smaller films like Sarangapani Jatakam, are now eyeing the December 20-21 slot. Despite this, Kannappa’s team has yet to announce anything.
