On Saturday, Barauni-Gwalior Mail (11124) reached the station with a delay of 22 minutes at 3:17 pm. After this she left for Erich. When the train was running between Parauna-Erich station at 3:50 pm, a cow collided with the engine of the train at kilometer 1195/41.
The train was running at a speed of approximately 90 kilometers per hour. The impact was so strong that the cow jumped and fell on the OHE (over head equipment) cable. Due to this the OHE cable broke and fell on the track. Due to the sudden stop of the train and the sound of cow hitting the engine, there was panic among the passengers and as soon as the train stopped, all the passengers got down from the train and stood on the track.

When the railway administration came to know about the incident, it stopped the power supply of Jhansi-Kanpur railway line as a precautionary measure. After this, the tower wagon vehicle was immediately sent to the incident site. After this, Barauni Mail was pulled by diesel engine and parked on the loop line. Only after this the repair work of OHE could be started. During this time, Barauni Mail stood on the main line for two hours.
The Kanpur-Jhansi railway line was disrupted for two and a quarter hours due to the incident. After completion of the repair work, Barauni Mail left the spot for Jhansi at 6:15 pm. At the same time, train operations could not take place for an hour on the Jhansi-Kanpur railway line. Due to the incident, Raptisagar Express, Gorakhpur-Yesvantpur Express, Gorakhpur-Lokmanya Tilak Express and Sabarmati Express of Jhansi-Kanpur-Jhansi railway line were affected.
Rail operations restored
Jhansi Railway Division Public Relations Officer Manoj Kumar Singh said that the cattle had collided with the engine of Barauni Mail between Erich and Parauna stations. Due to the collision, the cattle jumped and fell on the OHE. Due to this the OHE line was broken and rail operations were disrupted. Upon receiving the information, tower wagon vehicle was immediately sent and repair work was done and rail operations were restored.
