Mohit Pandey, who supplied school uniforms, died in police custody on Saturday. His brother, who was in the lockup along with him, alleged that the police had tortured and beaten Mohit throughout the night on Friday. He kept asking for water, but he was not listened to.

Due to this he died in agony. All this was done by the police only on the orders of the accused and his uncle. There was a dispute between the two regarding a transaction of only Rs 600, after which the police caught Mohit and his brother and took them to the police station.

On hearing the news of death, the family members blocked the road. There was also a scuffle with the police.

When no action was taken against the accused till around 9 pm and a case was not registered against Chinhat Inspector, the family members again became furious. At around 9.15 pm the family members blocked the road outside the hospital and started creating ruckus. Police-administration started raising slogans of Murdabad.

The family members blocked the road for about three hours due to which long queues of vehicles formed on the roads of Lohia Path, Sharid Path and Gomti Nagar. Late night, on the complaint of the deceased’s mother Tapeshwari Devi, the police registered a case against Inspector Ashwini Chaturvedi, Aadesh and his uncle and other people present in the police station and pacified the people.

The family members said that we want justice, otherwise kill us too.

Tapeshwari Devi, mother of the deceased Mohit Pandey, resident of Aptran outpost Jainabad Nai Basti in Chinhat, said that on Friday night, the loader driver Adesh, resident of Matiyari, had come to the house. Due to which there was a dispute between son Mohit and Shobharam regarding the fare.

After this he called the police to intervene. The police took Mohit to the police station. After this, elder son Shobha also reached the police station with relatives. There, the police also caught Shobha on the orders and behest of her uncle and put her in the lockup. The police beat Shobha less and Mohit more, due to which Mohit died.

The mother of deceased Mohit Pandey said that her son was killed by the police.

Mother said- murder conspiracy was hatched in the police station On the complaint of Mohit’s mother Tapeshwari Devi, a case has been registered against Chinhat Inspector Ashwani Chaturvedi, Adesh and his uncle along with other people present in the police station. Tapeshwari Devi has written in her complaint that the policemen did not even allow her son’s body to be seen closely. The injury was not visible, so it was hurriedly sent for post-mortem.

Aadesh and his uncle along with the police hatched a complete conspiracy to murder the son. Aadesh’s uncle had said that take these people to the police station, there they will get their work finished. Not only this, the policemen have threatened son Shobharam and forbidden him from saying anything.

The policemen had also made Shobharam sign a plain paper before granting him bail. DCP East Shashank Singh says that FIR has been registered on the mother’s complaint. Further action will be taken on the basis of evidence and post mortem report.

Sushma, the wife of the deceased, kept crying again and again and asked me to show her husband for the last time.

The deceased’s brother Shobharam said that Mohit was beaten throughout the night and was not even given water in the morning.

Order executed for transaction of Rs 600 Shobharam says that Adesh, a resident of Laulai Chinhat, has been doing goods delivery work at his place for four years. He used to come to the house every day and take out the money kept in his pocket. Since he was an old employee, no one interrupted him.

This time he had six hundred rupees outstanding for one fare. Regarding which he was abusing on the phone for three-four days. On this Mohit asked to come home and take the money. He came to the house and again clashed over the account of money transactions. Due to which both of them started fighting. All of us including mother intervened.

Meanwhile he called the police. Instead of listening to both the parties, the police just took Mohit to the police station and put him in lockup. Aadesh’s uncle had a hold on the police station. The result was that when we went to rescue him, the same thing happened to us.

Meanwhile, DCP East says that there was a transaction dispute between Mohit and Aadesh. On information, the police took both the parties to the police station. Mohit, Shobharam and Aadesh were challaned under the section of breach of peace.

The mother of the deceased sat on a dharna with Mohit’s children and kept crying uncontrollably.

He had died before reaching the hospital. Mohit’s family members allege that Mohit had already died before he was brought to Lohia Hospital. Doctors of Lohia Hospital have also confirmed this. On learning about Mohit’s death, Shobharam called his wife Sushma and informed her. After this the family members reached Lohia Hospital.

Give justice, otherwise kill us too The family members first tried to create a blockade outside Lohia Hospital around 6 pm to punish those responsible for Mohit’s death. After the clash with the police, everyone moved away, but around 9 pm they came back on the road and blocked the road.

He told the policemen that justice should be done at all costs. If you can’t give justice then kill us too. After which the police-administration lay down on the road shouting slogans of Murdabad.

At the same time, wife Sushma also sat on strike with her children. Seeing the anger of the family members, the police stopped the traffic of both the lanes coming towards Lohia Hospital and the traffic was diverted on the link road.

The commotion continued in front of Lohia Hospital till midnight and there was a traffic jam.

Police kept giving clarification till the end ADCP Pankaj Singh told in Lohia Hospital that action was taken against Mohit for breach of peace. When his health deteriorated, he was taken to the hospital for treatment. Where, the doctor declared him dead. The post-mortem of the dead body will be conducted by a panel of doctors. The cause of death will become clear when the report comes.
