A big decision came after scrutiny of nomination papers on Monday amidst preparations for the by-election on Meerapur assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar. The nomination papers of 22 out of 34 candidates who filed nominations were rejected after scrutiny. Only 12 candidates are now left in the fray

Flaws found in the nomination of many candidates
Assistant Returning Officer Subodh Kumar informed that during scrutiny, errors were found in the nomination papers of 22 candidates, due to which they had to be rejected. The rejected candidates include Akram, Anirudh Singh, Archit Jain, Bolendra Kumar, Bhageshwar Prasad, Dhanya Kumar Jain, Himanshu Pal, Manvendra, Mohammad Anas, Pradeep Kumar, RP Singh, Rajneesh Kumar, Rajesh Kumari, Sahista Jamal, Syed Nusrat Abbas, Samandra Sain, Sanjeev Kumar, Savendra Kumar, Sukram Pal, Sushil Kumar, Tarun Kumar, and Vinod.
12 candidates in the fray, there will be tough competition
The nomination papers of 12 candidates including the main political parties have been found to be correct and they remain in the election race. Now it remains to be seen whether any candidate withdraws the nomination or all the 12 candidates remain in the fray till the last day. Candidates had submitted their nomination papers for the by-election on Meerapur seat by October 25. Now, after the completion of scrutiny of nomination papers, the political temperature has further intensified.
