HYBE came under the radar after leaked documents revealed that the company criticised the idols of rival agencies.
Seungkwan, a member of the South Korean boyband SEVENTEEN, has indirectly voiced his opinions on the recent controversy involving the entertainment company HYBE. HYBE came under the radar after internal documents revealed that the company harshly criticised the idols of other agencies like JYP, SM and YG Entertainment. Reportedly, a few pages from the document were leaked online which caused a major public outrage. Now, Seungkwan seems to have spoken up on this matter, urging everyone to practice kindness. He has penned a heartfelt note on Instagram which has caught the attention of his fans.
In his long caption, Seungkwan wrote, “I no longer want to see us hurt each other. I have tried to quietly endure it, hoping things would pass, but now I can’t stay silent anymore. My fans, my members, and my fellow artists work tirelessly, and I won’t just stand by as they are hurt. Being an idol is not something I should have to endure while it eats away at me. I just want to give my best and share positive energy with my fans in every way I can.”
Seungkwan’s post also highlighted the fact of not “underestimating idols”. He said, “We are not your items to use as you please. We fight for every moment on stage, and it takes a toll.” The MAESTRO singer urged everyone to be kinder and show warmth to one another so that the music industry could thrive. He added, “If we can all just be a bit warmer, I think things could improve. I hate watching others break and give up. Let’s stop causing pain we can’t take responsibility for. This is my sincere hope.”
Seungkwan signed off his post by saying, “Thank you and I love you. I just want everyone to stay healthy and happy.” Along with the emotional write-up, the K-pop star also shared a slew of pictures where he was seen entertaining the audience at a concert. One of the clicks also comprised a letter given to him by Haewon, a member of the girlgroup NMIXX.
BigHit Entertainment, the predecessor of HYBE, acquired SEVENTEEN’s agency PLEDIS in 2020.
