Karnataka Deputy CM Denies Funds To Jayanagar Over BJP MLA’s Attacks On Congress – News18

DK Shivakumar has said that development funds have been denied since the BJP MLA from the constituency levelled allegations against the government and he should prove them first. The BJP has called it vendetta politics
The Congress government in Karnataka has refused funds to the Jayanagar assembly constituency in Bengaluru following an order by deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar.
The deputy CM has stated that funds have been denied because the Bharatiya Janata Party MLA from the constituency levelled allegations against the government, and he should prove them first. All 27 constituencies in Bengaluru have been allocated Rs 10 crore as grants for development, but Jayanagar has not received any. The BJP has labelled this as vendetta politics.
“Yes, I have denied funds. He (the MLA) has given certain statements, and he should prove them first. We are investigating it. He shouldn’t waste any time. He should protest soon; we won’t say no to that. He had come to meet me yesterday,” said Shivakumar.
MLA CK Ramamurthy’s comments against the Congress government have been cited as the reason for the denial of funds.
Ramamurthy was declared the winner from the Jayanagar constituency in polls last year against Congress’s then MLA Sowmya Reddy by a slim margin of 16 votes after much drama at the counting centre and examination of votes.
“The people of Jayanagar will protest if the grant is not given. When they call it Brand Bengaluru, the whole of Bengaluru has to develop,” Ramamurthy said.
