The Andhra Pradesh government on Wednesday announced the formation of a new Governing Council for the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), appointing BR Naidu as the Chairman of the board.

The ruling Telugu Desam Party (TDP) shared the news in a post on X, along with the official government order. The new council consists of 24 members, including representatives from states outside Andhra Pradesh.

“A new Governing Council of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam has been formed. BR Naidu has been appointed as the Chairman of TTD Board. A new Governing Council has been formed with 24 members. TTD has released an official statement to this effect,” the X post stated.

This new selection of board members comes after a controversy regarding the preparation of the famous Tirupati laddoos erupted last month, which escalated into a political dispute across the state.

The Tirupati Laddoo, also called the ‘Srivari Laddoo’, has been the main offering at the temple for more than 300 years.

A massive uproar began on September 18 when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that animal fat had been used in the preparation of Tirupati laddoos during the previous administration of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

In response, Reddy’s party, YSRCP, had accused Naidu of indulging in “heinous allegations” for political gains.
