A worker died after being hit by a speeding bike in Jansa police station area of Varanasi on Wednesday night. After the accident, the relatives and villagers reached the spot and blocked the Gangapur-Akelwa road by placing the dead body.

The villagers created a ruckus for four hours demanding compensation. Seeing the angry crowd, forces from many police stations took charge, while top officials remained busy in explaining things. After a four-hour exercise, the villagers calmed down on the assurance of farmer accident insurance and other government benefits including marriage grant.
According to the villagers, the police have detained two bike-riding youths resident of Sanjoi village, one of their companions fled from the spot. The police took the body into custody and on the basis of the complaint filed by the family members, filled the Panchnama and sent it for post-mortem.

On Wednesday night, Arvind Kumar Mishra alias Chunnu (42), resident of Naraicha village of Jansa police station, was returning home from Akelwa after working in a factory. Near Ramlila Maidan in front of Naraicha village, three youths riding a speeding bike from Gangapur side hit Arvind Kumar Mishra.
The people gathered nearby admitted the bleeding Arvind to a private hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. On receiving the information, the police also reached the hospital but the angry family members who arrived from the village blocked the road by keeping Chunnu’s body on the Gangapur-Akelwa road. Started demanding Rs 20 lakh as compensation and wedding expenses of two daughters.
On receiving information about the jam and uproar, police forces from several police stations reached the spot and took charge.
Jansa police tried to convince the family members, but they did not agree even after hours of efforts. The family remained adamant on the demand of calling higher officials to the spot. Seeing the increasing commotion, ACP Rajatalab called Rajatalab, Jansa, Mirzamurad, Lohta police forces to the spot, after which the force took charge. After the death of a laborer due to a bike collision near Ramlila Maidan in front of Naraicha village, wife Sangeeta is in a bad condition and crying. Among the three brothers, Chunnu, the elder, has two daughters. The atmosphere remained sad due to the pitiful cries of the family members. Family members said that preparations were being made for the festival in the house, meanwhile the news of the death of the head of the house created an uproar.

The villagers demanded Rs 20 lakh as compensation to the family members of the deceased Arvind Mishra alias Chunnu Mishra and the wedding expenses of both the daughters. However, the police and administrative officials promised them benefits of farmer accident insurance, and grants in marriage to their daughters. During this time, Rajatalab, Jansa, Mirzamurad, Lohta police forces remained standing at the spot. Police sent the body for post-mortem, but police force is deployed in the village.
