Ameesha Patel, known for her iconic roles in Bollywood, recently shared an anecdote about missing out on a major opportunity with Shah Rukh Khan. After her meteoric rise to fame with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai alongside Hrithik Roshan and the massive success of Gadar opposite Sunny Deol, Patel faced a mix of highs and lows in her film career. One significant regret was her “declining” to star in Chalte Chalte, a film that later became a classic.

In a candid conversation on the YouTube channel BeautybyBiE, Ameesha revealed that her secretary failed to inform her about the offer for Chalte Chalte, leading her to unknowingly decline the role.

“In my profession, I missed out on some films. Some became colossal successes, and some failed. I didn’t do Shah Rukh Khan’s Chalte Chalte because I wasn’t aware it was offered to me. My secretary didn’t inform me that this film was in the offering. When the film was about to release and Shah Rukh was dubbing for it, he took me into the dubbing studio and showed me a few edits. He said, ‘Come, I will show you edits of the film that you declined.’ I replied, ‘Shah Rukh, what have I declined?’ and he said, ‘This.’” The film eventually starred Rani Mukerji in the lead role.

While she may have missed out on that opportunity, Ameesha made a notable comeback in 2023 with Gadar 2, which, despite mixed reviews, grossed an impressive Rs 686 crore at the box office, proving that her star power remains undeniable.
