Lady Gaga dropped the music video from the Disease song from her upcoming seventh studio album, which is slated to be released in February 2025.
Lady Gaga has officially unveiled the music video of her latest single, Disease, giving fans a glimpse into her much-awaited seventh studio album, which is slated for February 2025. Directed by Tanu Muino, the song shows a brunette Gaga fighting a black-clad figure, seemingly confronting her own demons and embracing the haunting parts of herself. “There are no more tears to cry, I heard you beggin for life. Running out of medicine, you’re worse than you’ve ever been,” she sings in the opening line suggesting the challenges that one faces.
Prior to the music video’s release, Lady Gaga also shared a note reflecting the deeper meaning of the song.
In a long Instagram note, the singer-actor wrote, “I think a lot about the relationship I have with my own inner demons. It’s never been easy for me to face how I get seduced by chaos and turmoil. It makes me feel claustrophobic.” She further explained that the song was all about facing that fear, facing herself and her inner darkness, and realising that she couldn’t win or escape the scary parts. “Dancing, morphing, running, purging. Again and again, back with myself. This integration is ultimately beautiful to me because it’s mine and I’ve learned to handle it. I am the conductor of my own symphony. I am every actor in the plays that are my art and my life. No matter how scary the question, the answers are inside of me,” she continued.
Gaga concluded with, “Essential, inextricable parts of what makes me me. I save myself by keeping going. I am the whole me, I am strong, and I am up for the challenge. Happy Halloween.”
Disease came out on Friday, October 25, with hints about its music video release. The song is said to be the first preview of her upcoming album titled LG7. With catchy lyrics amid the dark and morbid visuals, the chorus “Screaming for me, baby. Like you’re gonna die. Poison on the inside, I could be your antidote tonight,” adds much to her inner battle.
It is worth mentioning that Lady Gaga recently unveiled the companion album, Harlequin, followed by another collaboration with Bruno Mars, Die with a Smile. Her last studio album, Chromatica came out four years ago, turning out to become a big hit.
