The iconic actress, who gained global fame after winning the Miss World title in 1994, made her film debut in Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar three decades ago. In this Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial, Nandini (Aishwarya Rai) falls in love with her father’s student Sameer (Salman Khan). Their relationship does not receive approval from Nandini’s father, who marries her off to a lawyer, Vanraj (Ajay Devgn), with whom she eventually falls in love.

Taal (1999)

This Subhash Ghai film also starred Akshaye Khanna and Anil Kapoor in key roles. The musical drama featured Aishwarya as Mansi, a talented folk singer who rises to fame with support from a wealthy music producer, Vikrant Kapoor (Anil Kapoor). Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai (2000)

Devdas (2002)

Based on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas tells the story of Devdas Mukherjee (Shah Rukh Khan), who is madly in love with Paro (Aishwarya Rai). Societal and familial pressures lead to their separation, after which Devdas descends into a spiral of self-destruction with tragic consequences. Madhuri Dixit also plays a key role in the film.

Raincoat (2004)

This poignant drama, set against the backdrop of rain-soaked Kolkata, explores the tale of two former lovers, Manu (Ajay Devgn) and Neerja (Aishwarya Rai), beautifully capturing the emotions of love and unfulfilled dreams.

Umrao Jaan (2006)

Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan family life

Born on November 1, 1973, in Mangalore, Aishwarya Rai’s father Krishna Raj was a biologist. Her mother Vrinda was a housewife.

Years after her entry in the industry, she fell in love with Abhishek Bachchan when the duo worked together on the film Guru. Later, they got married to each other in 2007.

The couple is now a parents to their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan.
