Deendayal Upadhyay, former Vice Chancellor of Gorakhpur University, eminent social worker and environmentalist Professor Radhey Mohan Mishra was cremated this morning with an emotional farewell. Reached Sahara Moksh Dham located at Shri Ram Ghat to bid farewell to his mortal remains.

Pro. Mishra breathed his last on Thursday evening on Diwali at his Siddharth Enclave, Deoria Bypass residence, causing a wave of mourning in the educational and social circles of Gorakhpur.
Extensive contribution and dedication to ideals Pro. Radhey Mohan Mishra adorned the post of Vice Chancellor of Gorakhpur University thrice and during his tenure made many reforms in the field of education and environment. He joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2013 and contested the Sadar Lok Sabha seat in 2014, but later resigned due to deviation from the party’s principles. Pro. Mishra had clearly said that the party has now deviated from the basic principles like Swaraj, internal democracy and transparency, and they cannot support any kind of authoritarian attitude.
struggle to protect the environment An example of his dedication towards the environment is the long legal battle he fought to revive Ramgarh Lake, in which he went to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) seeking protection of the lake. His efforts spread awareness about the conservation of the lake and led to many positive initiatives.
University in mourning Many dignitaries including University Professor Dr. Harsh Sinha, Heritage Foundation Patron Dr. Anita Aggarwal, architects Anupam Aggarwal, Manish Chaubey, Manoj Singh, Mumtaz Khan, and Professor Anil Rai expressed deep condolences on his demise. Everyone described his contribution as unmatched and said that his departure has caused an irreparable loss in the fields of education, social service and environmental protection.
