People had raised questions regarding the development works done under MNREGA in Sakaldiha and Chahania and Dhanapur blocks. Apart from this, people were also raising questions regarding many works under MNREGA in Chakia and Shahabganj blocks. There were allegations of corruption in MNREGA works even at the District Panchayat level. Virendra Singh, who became MP from Chandauli on SP ticket, had raised these issues in the district level meeting.

Cornering Sakaldiha block chief Awadhesh Singh, he also raised the issue of getting payment for development work done in many villages on his son’s firm. After which Sakaldiha chief Awadhesh Singh did not get answers to Virendra Singh’s questions. In such a situation, SP MP Virendra Singh wrote a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to get the MNREGA matters investigated. Home Minister Amit Shah himself has taken cognizance of this.

Virendra Singh alleged that there are huge irregularities in the works being done in the development blocks. At the same time, there has been a lot of corruption in the work done at the District Panchayat level. There has been huge misuse of public tax money. Apart from this, through a letter from the Home Minister, he told that a nexus has been formed. These should be investigated. Taking cognizance of this letter, Home Minister Amit Shah has ordered the Rural Development Ministry to investigate.
