Aamir Khan’s son and actor, Junaid Khan, cemented his position in the film industry with his film Maharaj and then, the web series Tanaav. He has amassed a massive fan following with his brilliant acting chops. Before Junaid’s debut, Aamir Khan was never in support of his acting career. The Lagaan actor talked about in one of the episodes of Amitabh Bachchan’s quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. In the episode, Big B, as Amitabh Bachchan is called, praised Junaid’s performance in Maharaj. The veteran actor then asked Junaid to share valuable insights he gained from his father’s experiences in the industry. Aamir explained, “I advised Junaid not to pursue acting after he faced numerous rejections during auditions.” The Lagaan actor said that despite the rejections, Junaid was selected for Maharaj and he thought that his son should not do the role.

Siddharth P Malhotra directed this film, starring Jaideep Ahlawat, Sharvari Wagh and Shalini Pandey in pivotal roles. This film is inspired by the 1862 Maharaja Libel Case. It narrates the story of a religious leader who sued a newspaper for alleging inappropriate relationships with his female followers. Junaid portrays the role of journalist Karsandas Mulji in the film. According to the reports, the shooting of Maharaj commenced in February 2021 and concluded within eight months. Since then, Junaid has been waiting for its release.

According to a News 18 report, Junaid auditioned a lot but faced numerous rejections. These rejections included the ones from his father’s home production, Laal Singh Chadda. Despite facing seven significant rejections, the producer of his upcoming film stumbled upon one of Junaid’s previous audition tapes. The Maharaj actor then auditioned but this opportunity came with certain conditions.

Junaid dedicated 3 years of his studies to dramatics and subsequent graduation. He also devoted a few years to honing his craft in theatre. However, the theatre wasn’t his sole effort. Since 2017, concurrently with his theatrical pursuits, the Maharaj actor actively explored opportunities in the film industry.
