A road accident took place on Saturday near Dhobhat Ghat located on the banks of Saryu in Basti. Before Kalwari Tanda bridge on Saryu under Kalwari police station area, four vehicles collided with each other, in which two people lost their lives, while 12 others were injured.

According to the information, people of Ambedkar Nagar had gone by bus to perform Sajda from Gaura Chowki in Gonda district. On Saturday, when he was returning at around 1 o’clock, his bus crossed the bridge over the Saryu river. Suddenly a Bolero coming from the front hit the bus hard, due to which the bus hung on the bridge and the Bolero fell into the ditch. Meanwhile, an auto and an e-rickshaw passing by also went out of control and collided with these vehicles and overturned.
As soon as information about the accident was received, top officials of the district reached the spot and started relief work. All the injured were admitted to the district hospital and CHC Kalwari, where they are undergoing treatment.
Additional Superintendent of Police OP Singh said that as soon as information about the incident was received, police and administration personnel reached the spot. He said that relief work is going on and those who were evacuated safely in the bus have been sent to their destination through another bus.
