Enmity became the reason for the fight

There was an old rivalry going on for some time between Veer Singh and Awadhesh Singh, residents of Barnai Chatarkha village. There was an altercation between the two sides during the day on Sunday, but by evening the matter escalated. The dispute escalated so much that both sides attacked each other with sticks and stones.

Police arrived three times on information

The police was already informed about the fight between the two parties. The police team reached the spot thrice and tried to convince both the parties, but due to no concrete action being taken, the dispute flared up again in the evening. After receiving the information, Inspector Rajesh Kumar Sharma reached the spot with heavy police force, but both the parties continued attacking each other in the presence of the police.

Constable Jitendra Singh suffered serious injuries

Harpalpur police constable Jitendra Singh, who was trying to resolve the dispute amid the chaos, was also hit with a stick, due to which he suffered serious injuries on his hand. In this fight, many people from one side including Veer Singh, Rajesh were injured, while from the other side many people including 85 year old Surajpal, his wife 82 year old Phoolmati, Munendra Pal, Awadhesh, Ramkaran and Gaurav were badly injured. All the injured were referred to the district hospital after first aid, in which the condition of Rajesh and Phoolmati is said to be critical.

Lathi charge in presence of police

This incident has raised questions on the role of police administration. The police reached the spot thrice, despite sensing the seriousness of the dispute, did not take any strict action, due to which the dispute took a violent turn. There is resentment among the villagers due to the use of sticks and bricks and stones in the presence of the police. Inspector Rajesh Kumar Sharma said that complaints are awaited from both the parties regarding the incident. As soon as the complaint is received, strict action will be taken against the culprits.
