A 35-year-old man died after being hit by a speeding car when he was bursting firecrackers on a road in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad area, the police said on Sunday.
The incident, captured on CCTV, occurred on November 30 when the victim- Soham Patel- was bursting firecrackers on the roadside and a car hit him and disappeared from the scene.
The visuals showed Soham being thrown into the air when the speeding car rammed into him. The police said the car didn’t stop and fled.

As the arrest of the accused is yet to be made, the police have registered a case and launched a probe by scanning more CCTV cameras along this road to identify the vehicle.
In a separate incident, five children were injured in Pune’s Sinhgad area after a drain chamber lid exploded as they set off firecrackers on it, according to police.
Another firecracker-related incident occurred in Nagpur when a 25-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a teenager.
The victim, identified as Amol Waghmare, was involved in an argument with the teenager over firecrackers on November 1. During the dispute, the teenager allegedly attacked Waghmare with a knife, leading to his death, according to police reports.
