Dayanand Shetty will be seen in the new season of CID.

After much anticipation, CID is all set to make a comeback on television with a new season. The new season will see most of the old characters also making their comeback. In a latest interview, actor Dayanand Shetty, best known for playing the role of Senior Inspector Daya, recalled shooting for CID for 20 years. He recalled how the shooting was looked at from a ‘military mindset’ and how they performed challenging scenes which also involved the actors jumping into manholes and sewers.

In a conversation with AP Podcast, Dayanand Shetty recalled how shooting for CID was different when compared to soap operas. He mentioned how the sets always changed depending on the story. He said, “The plus point of CID was that every day was different. The location and co-stars kept changing. Sometimes we would shoot with a big star and sometimes with other actors. We had around 15-17 locations in every episode. So, we weren’t bored.”

Shetty mentioned how seven to eight actors shared a single makeup room on the set. He revealed how all the actors would treat each other with respect and how they often hung out together. He added, “There was no distinction—no one was considered a big or small actor, nor were people treated differently if they were planning to leave the show. We were all human beings, treating each other with respect. It was like a military setup—everyone did their job, and no one felt superior or inferior.”

The actor also mentioned how the actors did everything that was asked of them. He added, “We have never told the director that we can’t jump in that as it is dirty. We have got down in manholes, sewage and so much dirty water that I can even speak about it for a scene. You don’t say no. Shooting was done on a military level.”

CID first aired in 1998. It went on to become one of the longest-running television shows in India. The show ended its run in 2018 with more than 1500 episodes.
