Will start on 16th November Monk Chandima Thore, in-charge of Dhamma Learning Center in Sarnath and former president of the International Buddhist Research Institute, said – Sarnath is the preaching place of Lord Buddha and Kushinagar is the place of Mahaparinirvana. A Dhamma Yatra has been organized between these two holy places. This Dhammacharika will leave Sarnath temple on 16th November and leave for Kushinagar.
5000 worshipers will walk 500 km on foot He told – 5000 worshipers from Sarnath and outside will take part in this 500 kilometer Dhamma Charika (padayatra). All of them will deliver Lord Buddha’s message of peace and harmony to the places on the way till they reach Kushinagar. During this period, meetings will also be held during rest stops at various places on the way.
Lord Buddha traveled on foot for 45 years Chandima Thore told- Lord Buddha had done Charika (foot journey) for 45 years for world peace and attaining enlightenment. After this he did public welfare work and preached knowledge to the people. Our aim is to convey the message of Lord Buddha to the people through this Charika. Its aim is to awaken knowledge and compassion among people.
Will reach Kushinagar after traveling through 5 districts He told- This yatra will reach Kushinagar on December 8 from Varanasi via Ghazipur, Ballia, Deoria, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj. A big Dhamma gathering has been organized here.
