Strong statement from Bar Association Presidents

This protest was organized under the leadership of Sonbhadra Bar Association President Poonam Singh and District Bar Association President Shyam Bihari Yadav. Both of them criticized this incident in Ghaziabad and said that this act of lathi charge on the advocates reminds of the barbarity of the British rule. He said, “Such atrocities on the lawyers who are raising their voice to protect the rights will not be tolerated at all. There should be a high-level inquiry into the guilty policemen and judicial officers.”

Warning of violent agitation across the state

Bar Association General Secretary Rajiv Singh Gautam informed that the Ghaziabad incident took place when some advocates were demanding hearing on their files in the judge’s chamber. The judge spoke to them in a loud voice, abused them and called the police and got them lathi-charged, due to which many advocates suffered serious injuries. Apart from this, two FIRs have also been registered against the advocates, due to which there is anger in the advocate community.

Demonstration on the instructions of State Bar Association

Gautam said that this protest has been done on the instructions of the State Bar Association. He said, “We are with the advocates of Ghaziabad and will support them in every fight. If our demands are not met, advocates across the state will be forced to carry out violent agitation.”
