The anticipatory bail plea of Kanhaiya, accused in the journalist Shubhamani murder case that took place four years ago in Unnao, has been rejected by the Supreme Court for the second time. Even before this, Kanhaiya’s bail has been rejected thrice by the High Court.

Let us tell you that Unnao Journalist Shubhamani, resident of Brahm Nagar, was shot dead in broad daylight in Sahjani on June 19, 2020, after which about a dozen people were accused of being involved in this murder.
The bail plea of the main accused Kanhaiya Awasthi in this case was rejected for the second time by the Supreme Court on Monday. Four accused in the high profile case have been in jail for four years.
According to the information, Divya Awasthi, her husband Kanhaiya Awasthi, brother-in-law Raghavendra Awasthi, and other accused were named in the murder case of Shubhammani. These include Santosh Bajpayee, Deepu, Shanu Gandhi, Rizwan Kana, Monu Lootera, Abdul Bari, Afsar, Kapil Kataria, Vikas Dixit, Shahnawaz Bihari and Kaushal Kishore alias Criminal Baba.
Accused Baba is still absconding
Kanhaiya Awasthi’s bail plea has already been rejected by the High Court thrice. His lawyer had sought bail in the Supreme Court in July, which was rejected.
The bail petition was filed again on Monday, but due to tough advocacy and lack of sufficient evidence, the court rejected the bail. The culprit in this case, Baba, is still absconding, which is creating hindrance in the investigation of the murder case.
