Air increasing lung, asthma and heart diseases
The air of Varanasi has remained in the yellow zone for two days after Diwali. On Sunday, AQI i.e. Air Quality Index has reached 135 points. BHU had the worst air in the city with an AQI of 153 points. After this, AQI of Bhelupur was 134 points, Ardali Bazar was 139 points and Maldahiya was 122 points. AQI level more than 100 invites respiratory diseases as well as lung, asthma and heart diseases. Due to smoke, the PM 2.5 level in the city reached 328 points on Sunday night. After this, the level of PM 10 has reached a maximum of 164 points and carbon monoxide has reached a maximum of 118 points.
Haze is visible due to increase in PM2.5.
After Diwali only mask can save you from hospital
Retired and former TB and Chest Department Head of BHU, Prof. G N Srivastava said that these days people suffering from respiratory problems have started coming to both government and private hospitals. The weather is also changing rapidly. Due to lack of sunlight, pollution is at a very low level in the sky. The air is becoming toxic. There is a burning sensation in the eyes also. To protect against this, the government should sprinkle water on the roads with sprinklers.
