BLACKPINK’s Rose talked about going through a few “toxic” relationships when she was in her 20s.
BLACKPINK’s Rose aka Roseanna Park, has been garnering significant traction ever since she released the punchy and peppy single APT, featuring Bruno Mars. The song is the first single from her debut album, Rosie. In a recent interview, the songstress opened up about the much heavier themes of her upcoming album, scheduled to be released on December 6. She shared that it would revolve around toxic relationships, love gone wrong and missed red flags, among others.
During her conversation with Paper Magazine, the BLACKPINK member, for the first time, talked about her love life and revealed that she has had her fair share of “toxic relationships”, just like any other girl in her early 20s. Rose said, “I think I’m grateful enough to have gone through a few relationships, you know, like a normal girl in her 20s. I do want people to understand that I’m not much different from your average girlfriend or 23-year-old girl.”
The APT singer further mentioned that it doesn’t necessarily have to be a toxic romantic relationship but any kind to understand her new music. “I’m probably very relatable if you listen to my songs and if anyone’s been in that kind of a relationship. It doesn’t even have to be about a boyfriend, just any type of toxic relationship,” she added.
Rose also highlighted that she wanted to sing about the vulnerabilities that people generally have during their twenties, making it more relatable to her fans. The BLACKPINK singer said, “The 20s is not an easy time to live through. It’s when you’re very vulnerable and confused, excited and angry about life. That’s what I wanted to sing about.” Through her upcoming album, the 27-year-old singer aims at “manipulators and emotional traitors” and is all about the “terrible 20s.”
In the same conversation, Rose revealed that through her upcoming album, she wants people to understand her real self and stop misunderstanding her all the time. “At the end of the day, I want people to understand me and stop misunderstanding me as a person as well. I’m ready to be a bit more vulnerable and open and honest in order for people to not misunderstand, and take me for what I am,” she said.
Speaking of her love life, since the time Rose has entered showbiz, she has been entangled in several dating rumours. First, she was associated with South Korean actor Kang Dong Won after they were spotted together at a social gathering. Soon, Rosé agency denied the rumours. After this, the 27-year-old was said to be dating ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo. The speculations were solely based on their similar Instagram posts.
