Out of the 25 SSPs who will become DIGs, there are 10 officers who are posted in the districts. In this also, six are working as captains of the districts, while four are working as DCPs in the police commissionerate. Those who are the captains of the districts include Mathura SSP Shailesh Pandey, Muzaffarnagar SSP Abhishek Singh, Jaunpur Police Captain Ajay Pal Sharma, Shahjahanpur Police Captain Rajesh S, Fatehpur Police Captain Alok Priyadarshi, Jhansi SSP Sudha Singh. Apart from this, those who are posted on the post of DCP in the districts include the names of Ram Badan Singh in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Tej Swarup in Lucknow, Hridesh Kumar and Suryakant Tripathi in Varanasi.

Actually, there are total 21 sanctioned posts of ADG rank in IPS cadre. ADG can be deployed in the same number of ex-cadre posts. At present 45 ADGs are working. As ex-cadre posts, permission for the post of 3 additional ADGs was taken from the Center to promote some officers.

Due to lack of vacancy, many officers will not be able to become DG. There are total 7 posts of DG in Uttar Pradesh. There are seven posts in it and there are X cadre posts. That means the maximum number of officers in DG rank can be 14. For DG rank, 30 years of service is mandatory. In such a situation, on January 1, 2025, the service period of officers up to 1995 batch will be completed 30 years.

Despite this, due to non-availability of vacant posts, these officers will not be able to get promotion to DG rank. Apart from 1995, the officers who will not be able to get promotion to DG rank even after completing the qualification, also include officers of 1992, 1993 and 1994 batch.

Many officers will not be able to get promotion There are many officers who will not be able to get promotion due to some investigation or the other. This includes the names of Atul Sharma of 2009 batch, Shagun Gautam of 2010 batch, Himanshu Kumar, Dr. Dharamveer Singh. These officers were to get promotion in the last DPC i.e. DPC held in 2023, but due to the ongoing investigation against these officers, they could not get promotion. There are some officers of SP and DIG rank against whom investigation is also going on. But the departmental promotion committee will decide whether they will be promoted or not.
