India A made a disastrous start to their tour of Australia. The Indian unit, led by Ruturaj Gaikwad, lost the first unofficial Test to Australia A by seven wickets. The visitors will now look to turn the tables in the next game, scheduled to begin on November 7 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. After this game, India A will play a practice game against the Rohit Sharma-led Indian unit which will feature in the Border Gavaskar Trophy.
India A faced a batting collapse in their both innings in the previous unofficial Test against Australia A. The away side were bundled out for 107 runs in the first innings. Devdutt Padikkal was the top scorer with 36 runs while Sai Sudharsan and Navdeep Saini were the other batters to cross 20.
Mukesh Kumar chipped in with a six-wicket haul as Australia A wrapped up their first innings at 195. Sai Sudharsan scored a commendable century in the second innings. He was assisted by Devdutt Padikkal, who contributed with a gritty knock of 88. Australia A were handed a 225-run target which they comfortably chased down in 75 overs and the match ended on Day 3.
