Star Indian wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who scored 60 and 64 runs in the recently concluded third Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, has jumped five places to become world No. 6 Test batter in the latest ICC rankings released on Wednesday (November 6). He is India’s second-highest-ranked batter in Tests after Yashasvi Jaiswal, who, after a flop show in the Mumbai Test, dropped one place to become the No. 4 batter in the five-day format of the game.

Apart from Pant, Shubman Gill has also gained in the batter’s ranking. Thanks to his 90-run knock in the first inning of the Mumbai Test, Gill has jumped four places to become the world No. 16 batter. But batting superstar Virat Kohli is out of the top-20 after a forgetful show with the bat in the third and final Test of the home series.

Kohli, who has only managed to score two fifties in 2024 across formats, has dropped eight places to take the No. 22 position. He has 655 rating points. Indian captain Rohit Sharma is in 26th place after losing two more spots.

Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up five wickets in both innings of the third Test, has jumped two places to become the world No. 6 Test bowler. He has 802 rating points. Jasprit Bumah is India’s highest-ranked Test bowler. With 838 rating points, he sits in the No. 3 position. Ravichandran Ashwin has dropped one place to take the No. 5 position.

New Zealand spinner Ajaz Patel, who also picked up a five-wicket haul in both innings of the Mumbai Test, has jumped 12 places to take No. 22 position in the list of Test bowlers.

South Africa’s Kasgio Rabada continues to lead the bowler’s chart after replacing Bumrah from the No. 1 position last week. The 29-year-old pacer has been in red-hot form these days, and he played a big role in the Proteas 2-0 win over Bangladesh in the two-match Test series last month.

Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is in 2nd place, and Pat Cummins sits in No. 4 position. Among batters, Joe Root, despite a flop show in the last two Tests against Pakistan, has retained his No. 1 position.
