‘Don’t Know About Being Wiser, But Older For Sure’: Virat Kohli’s Cheeky Dig At Himself When Asked About His Birthday – News18

When asked about celebrations for his birthday, Kohli stated that he kept the occasion simple by spending some much needed quality time with his family.
A ‘King’ would be expected to have the grandest of celebrations when it comes to himself. But, Virat Kohli stays grounded, as the talisman batter shared the sweet tale of his muted celebrations on his birthday with his family.
One of the finest batters of the modern era, Kohli is often called as the “greatest all-formats batter”. For his incredible batting, innumerable records and several match-winning knocks, Kohli is considered one of the greatest batters to don the Indian jersey.
Having made his debut in 2008, he has carved for himself a career that has seen him win break numerous batting records besides winning two world cup titles (2011 ODI World Cup, 2024 T20 World Cup), one ICC Champions Trophy, twice winning the men’s cricketer of the year award and more.
This past Tuesday was Kohli’s 36th birthday and when asked by host Gaurav Kapoor in an event in Mumbai about his celebrations for the same, the talisman batter replied stating that he kept the occasion simple by spending some much needed quality time with his family.
“I don’t know about being wiser, but I’m older for sure,” joked Kohli to Gaurav Kapoor at the event.
“This was probably the most chilled-out birthday I’ve had through all these years. It was just Anushka (Sharma) and our two kids at home. It was very relaxed.”
“The birthday was basically for my daughters. Happens so when you have kids,” remarked Kohli.
Kohli will be next seen in action during India’s five-match Test tour of Australia that starts from November 22 in Perth. When playing Test in Australia, he averages a superb 54.08 having scored 1352 runs from 13 matches including six centuries and four half-centuries.
Unfortunately for the Indian though, he has come under fire following his abysmal series against New Zealand that has raised concerns about his role in the Indian Test squad.
Kohli scored a shameful 93 runs at 15.50 in the NZ series, whilst having racked up just 250 runs from 6 matches at 22.72 in 2024.
Therefore with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy approaching, the seemingly calm and zen Kohli will be expected to tap back into his fiery aggressive side to take on the mighty Aussies in their home turf and inspire India to bounce back from their whitewash to New Zealand.
