Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024 Live Updates: The election campaign is set to intensify with less than two weeks left for polling in Maharashtra. Top leaders from two major alliances have been addressing several rallies in a day to woo voters.
Addressed a rally in Maharashtra’s Dhule today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of pitting one caste against another and asked people to stay united, saying “Ek hai, toh safe hai.” “
Modi quipped that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), comprising Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (SP), as a vehicle that has neither wheels nor brakes and there is a fight there to sit in the driver’s seat.
Meanwhile, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar condemned derogatory remarks made against women during the campaigning and directed to take stern action against those making such comments.
The BJP is running as part of the Mahayuti alliance, which includes chief minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction and Ajit Pawar’s NCP. Opposing them is the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, comprising Uddhav Thackeray’s Shiv Sena (UBT), Sharad Pawar’s NCP (SP), and the Congress party.
Elections to the 288-member legislative assembly will be held on November 20 and the votes will be counted on November 23.
