A function was organized by the Hill General Council, Lucknow on the eve of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day. Mayor Sushma Kharkwal was the chief guest at the felicitation ceremony of ‘Uttarakhand State Movement’ at the Hill General Council building located in Gomti Nagar.

On this occasion, the courage, struggle and dedication of the state agitators was appreciated. General Council President Ganesh Chandra Joshi said that the creation of Uttarakhand is the result of the struggle of the agitators. General Secretary Mahendra Singh Rawat said that there was a demand for a long time to honor the Uttarakhand state agitators of Lucknow so that the coming generations could take inspiration from their sacrifice.

Chief convenor TS Manral, convenor KN Chandola and patron Bhawan Singh Rawat appreciated the sacrifice of the agitators. Expressed sadness over the fact that even after the formation of the state, the agitators did not get the expected respect. On this occasion, many speakers including Lalit Singh Pokharia, Narendra Singh Deori, and Jagdish Joshi shared their views about the Uttarakhand state movement. State agitator Ghanand Pandey Megh also recited a poem. Prominent state agitators like Sushma Kharkwal, DD Nariyal, Bhawan Singh Rawat, AP Amoli, BS Negi, Narendra Singh Deori, Pitamber Bhatt, Diwan Singh Rawal, Ramesh Chandra Pandey, Prof. were present at the felicitation ceremony. . RC Pant, Kailash Upadhyay, Vikram Singh Bisht and other dignitaries were present.

Cultural presentations also took place at the function. In this, the group of Hema Devi Vanagi presented the traditional songs “Khela Jhumailo” and “Bata Gada Dhana Boya Ho Ratan Da”, while the group of Govind Singh Bora of Gomti Nagar sang Uttarakhand inspired songs and the group of Telibagh presented a group dance.
