Tristan Stubbs scored 47 runs to lead South Africa to victory.
Batting first in Kebera on Sunday, Team India could score only 124 runs. After such a small score in the second T20, India had little hopes of winning. Then spinner Varun Chakraborty took the team to the threshold of victory by taking 5 wickets for 17 runs.
Ravi Bishnoi also supported Chakraborty and took one wicket for just 21 runs in 4 overs. South Africa had lost 7 wickets for 88 runs in 16 overs. Here Akshar Patel had 3 overs left, but captain Suryakumar Yadav handed the ball to fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. Both gave away 37 runs in just 3 overs and India lost the match.
Middle order batsman Tristan Stubbs from South Africa scored 47 runs on 41 balls. Bowler Gerald Cootzie supported him by scoring 19 runs on 9 balls. Stubbs was having trouble playing spin, but after finding the pacers in the death overs, he easily led the team to victory.

1. Player of the Match
South Africa started cautiously in front of the target of 125 runs. The team had lost only one wicket at the score of 32 runs after 5 overs. From here Varun Chakraborty took 5 wickets and South Africa’s score became 66/6. Tristan Stubbs, who came to bat at number-4, stood at one end, he stayed till the end and scored 47 runs and led the team to victory. For this performance he received the Player of the Match award.
2. Reasons for defeat
- Top Order: Team India’s top order, which came to bat first after losing the toss, flopped badly. Sanju Samson could not even open his account, while Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were out after scoring 4-4 runs. The team lost the first 3 wickets at the score of 15 runs only.
- Weak Batting: After early wickets fell, Tilak Verma, Axar Patel and Hardik Pandya took over the team. India lost 6 wickets for 87 runs, here Arshdeep Singh came to bat, whom Hardik could not trust. He left many singles, due to which the team could score only 31 runs in the last 4 overs. Hardik was left alone at last.
- Surya’s captaincy: Despite the small target, India had made a comeback in the match. The team had reduced South Africa’s 7 wickets for 88 runs in 16 overs. Here, there were 3 overs left for spinner Akshar Patel, who had given only 2 runs against Stubbs in the first over. In place of Akshar, Surya made the pacers bowl, who gave away the 37 runs required for South Africa’s victory with one over remaining.
3. Gamechanger of the match
South Africa lost the 7th wicket in the 16th over, here Gerald Cootzie came to bat. He hit 2 fours and a six against Arshdeep Singh and Avesh Khan. His batting made the job of Stubbs standing at the non-striker’s end easier. Cootji scored 19 runs on 9 balls. He had spent only 11 runs in the last 2 overs against Hardik in the first innings. Due to which India could not even make a big score.
Gerald Cootzie gave only 11 runs in 12 balls in the death overs.
4. Fighter of the Match
Team India almost lost the match after scoring 124 runs in the first innings. The team looked weak even in the first 5 overs of the second innings, then Varun Chakraborty came to bowl. Who took a wicket in every over and pushed the home team on the back foot by taking 5 wickets in the spell. Varun ended his spell in the 13th over, after which South Africa’s score was 67/6. However, even his performance could not lead the team to victory.

Team India, who came to bat first after losing the toss, lost 3 wickets in the powerplay. After 6 overs the team could score only 34 runs. Sanju Samson could not even open an account. Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav were out after scoring 4 runs each.
The team could score only 124 runs after losing 6 wickets in 20 overs. From the team, Hardik Pandya scored 39 runs, Akshar Patel scored 27 runs and Tilak Verma scored 20 runs. The rest of the batsmen could not even touch the 10-run mark. Marco Janson, Gerald Cooties, Andile Simelane, Aiden Markram and N Peter got 1 wicket each from South Africa. A batter runout also occurred.
South Africa won despite a bad start
Against the target of 125 runs, South Africa could score only 34 runs after losing 2 wickets in the powerplay. The team lost wickets continuously in front of the spin of Varun Chakraborty and Ravi Bishnoi. However, with the batting of Stubbs and Cootzie, the team won the match by 3 wickets with 1 over to spare.
By winning the second T20, South Africa has leveled the 4-match series 1-1. India won the first match by 61 runs. The third match will be played on November 13 at the SuperSport Park Stadium in Centurion.
