What is Tang Soo Do?

Tang Soo Do is a Korean Martial art influenced by karate, taekkyeon and some Chinese martial art forms. It incorporates both the physical and the mental aspects of training for self-protection and philosophical development. The term “Tang Soo Do” means “the way of the Tang hand,” and it originated from Chinese martial arts practised in the Tang Dynasty.

The Tang Soo Do has in the previous year copied and adopted other roles from martial arts and vice versa. During the 1950s, when Korean martial arts styles were steadily coalescing around the name of Taekwondo many practitioners continued practising in the Tang Soo Do tradition as they began adopting new forms.
