Alia-Ranbir Reached Out To Arjun Kapoor After Watching Singham Again: ‘I Respect…’ | Exclusive – News18

Given the star-studded ensemble of Singham Again, was Arjun Kapoor ever skeptical about taking on the role? Not at all, he says.
Arjun Kapoor has been making headlines ever since Singham Again hit theatres, with audiences and critics alike applauding his portrayal of the villain Danger Lanka, aka Zubair Hafeez. Kapoor, who is “grateful” and “ready to accept the tag of a comeback or 2.0,” shared his excitement over the support he’s received from friends in the industry. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also stars Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Tiger Shroff.
Though the list of well-wishers is long, Kapoor mentioned a few of those who reached out. “To get a message from Adi sir (Aditya Chopra) is always nice and that means a lot. He is very correct that way; if he likes something, he will always tell me. If he doesn’t like something also, he will always tell me. To get a praise from him means a lot. [Besides] Ranbir and Alia, they are my contemporaries, and I respect both of them professionally for the work that they do. Whether it’s Varun, Balki sir, a lot of people reached out. List bann jaati hai phir naamo ki. In general, it is nice to have felt an emotion. For instance, I went to watch Citadel for Varun’s premiere. You feel an energy and an emotion. People who might have not seen are also happy for you. That also matters. Vicky [Kaushal], when we met at a Diwali party, he hugged me and I could feel that he is happy because he is somebody I have spoken about the film, etc. You feel good when your contemporaries are cheering for you,” he shared in an exclusive interview with News18.
Kapoor went on to reflect on the experience, adding, “Getting compliments is always good. Sometimes you get it through the box office business and sometimes you get a message or two. There’s just an energy that people are happy for you and they like your work. That combination is there. [Sometimes] they like you, but they will be like ‘iska kaam pata nahi abhi dekhte hai’. Or they are happy for you, but the film doesn’t pan out beyond a point. Here it seems like an amalgamation of all of it.”
Given the star-studded ensemble, was Kapoor ever skeptical about taking on the role? Not at all, he says. “I was happy. It is the kind of film that I would want to go to watch in a theatre. I have grown up watching ensembles. Loved watching these summer blockbusters. I have an affinity towards them, and the child inside me was very excited to go watch this film regardless of it was offered or not, mein dekhne wala tha. I am a fan of Singham, Simmba, and Sooryavanshi. It just felt like a perfect fit for me. Also, because I was at that point in my career where I needed to take a chance and not think so much. Impulsively, I was excited when Rohit sir called me.”
