Tears of joy streamed down Sabrina Carpenter’s face as she celebrated her Grammy nominations on her tour bus. The pop star, known for her hit Espresso, captured the emotional moment in an Instagram video shared on Friday, revealing how deeply the recognition from the Recording Academy touched her. In the video, Sabrina is surrounded by friends, all of whom erupted into cheers as they watched the live Grammy nomination announcement. The excitement was palpable as Carpenter received nods for Best Pop Solo Performance, Best New Artist, Song of the Year, and Record of the Year.

But the joy really overflowed when a second video showed her breaking down upon learning her sixth album, Short n’ Sweet, had snagged an Album of the Year nomination, putting her in competition with icons like Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter and Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department. She also earned a nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album.

“This is the first year I’ve watched the live stream where I heard my name!” the 25-year-old singer captioned her post. She added, “I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t dreamt about this day my whole life, so I am filled with gratitude. Thank you Recording Academy.”

Interestingly, Sabrina and fellow breakout star Chappell Roan are the only artists to be nominated in all four major categories: record of the year, best new artist, album of the year and song of the year.

Sabrina laughed at her “best new artist” nomination, joking about her nearly decade-long journey in the industry. “I’m the best old artist … I’ve been here,” she quipped, acknowledging her first album, Eyes Wide Open, came out back in 2015, reports Page Six.

Despite her long career, Sabrina’s fame has soared recently, especially after her 2022 album Emails I Can’t Send struck a chord with fans. The deluxe version, released in 2023, included her first Billboard Hot 100 hit, Feather. And it seems the successes just keep coming. This year, Short n’ Sweet not only topped the charts but also helped her make history by joining Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande as one of the few women to have three songs in the Top 5 of the Hot 100 at once.

Looking back on her career, Sabrina admitted that Short n’ Sweet feels like a fresh start despite the numerous albums and EPs she’s already released. “It’s strange but this one feels like my sophomore album,” she once reportedly said.
