A case of embezzlement worth lakhs has come to light in Hazratganj police station of Lucknow. Lakhs of rupees were misappropriated in purchasing goods. This came to light when the committee formed on the orders of the court investigated and submitted its report. After which the police station in-charge gave a complaint letter against the then clerks.

On March 29, 2019, the then in-charge of Hazratganj police station, Radharaman Singh, had filed a report of a scam of Rs 10 lakh. During that time, Malkhana in-charge Ashok Yadav was suspended. After this he was sent to jail. Constable Priya Tripathi was given the responsibility as the new in-charge. Priya Tripathi died in 2022 due to serious illness. Since there was no person in charge of handling the goods, the goods recovered in the cases were not being presented in the court. The court had sought information on this.
Committee was formed to investigate
A committee was formed to investigate. ADCP Central in-charge and ACP Hazratganj, police station in-charge Hazratganj Moharrir Malkhana were made members of the committee. Inspector Hazratganj Vikram Singh said that he has now given another complaint in this matter. No one has been named yet. However, suspicion has been raised on chief constables Ashok Yadav and Priya Tripathi, who were in charge of the Malkhana in the past.
Were not able to present the recovered goods in the court
Five cases of corruption were registered in Hazratganj police station. In which the police was not able to present the recovered goods in the court. The High Court and the special judge gave repeated reminders to the Hazratganj police. Despite this, the evidence of the five cases was not presented in the court. On this, the court had sent a notice to ACP Hazratganj on 24 July 2024.
