This was the dialogue of the play Wrong Number staged today on the concluding evening of the drama festival organized at Maharashtra Mandal Bhawan Khalasi Line under the joint aegis of Sangeet Natak Academy Chandigarh and North Central Region Cultural Center Prayagraj. Presented by the artists of Anukriti Kanpur, this play written by Pali Bhupinder Singh was directed by Dr. Omendra Kumar.

Manav (Deepak Raj Rahi), who is living his life on a wheel chair, has lost both his legs in a car accident. Although his wife Satya (Deepika Singh) takes great care of him, Manav becomes suspicious of Satya. She thinks that Satya is having an affair with her friend Sambhav. Meanwhile, Manav gets a call, which is a wrong number. The beautiful caller Kalpana (Sandhya Singh) is looking for some moments of happiness in her dull life.

Kalpana, an old rich man’s wife, is searching for the number of her imaginary lover Akash to escape the boredom of the day, but Manav gets the call. When Sambhav (Samrat)’s mother passes away, Satya goes to his house to express her condolences. When a person comes to know about this, the turmoil going on in his mind increases.

It is not right to doubt your wife unnecessarily

He tells Satya on phone that you remember the death of your lover’s mother, not my birth. Do you remember today is my birthday. When Kalpana calls, Manav tells her about Satya’s infidelity. Kalpana says that if you solve love questions with math formulas, the answer will be negative. She explains to Manav that it is not right to doubt the wife unnecessarily. Manav tells Kalpana that today is my birthday, Satya has ordered a cake and I have sprinkled poison on the cake. Kalpana advises Manav to call himself.

It speaks to the human conscience. The conscience also explains to Manav, “If you ask questions, you get only answers at most, but you don’t get love. Your question is, why does Satya love you so much? If no one can love anyone so much, Manav, then there is so much show of love. Can’t. Once again Kalpana calls, due to her positive attitude and by now Manav has reached a decision. He expresses his desire to dial Satya again. Manav is preparing to cut the cake.

The ice between relationships is melting. Manav says to Satya “I want to name you Kalpana and mine as Akash. Satya gives a rose flower to Manav saying happy birthday Akash. Manav smiles and takes Satya’s hand saying “Thank you Kalpana”.
