On November 11, a cattle farmer from Varanasi reached CM Yogi’s Janata Darbar in Gorakhpur with the problem of his cows giving less milk. He complained to the CM that due to the loud DJ playing, the cows were giving 30 to 40 percent less milk.
,
In the complaint letter he wrote – We have 4 cows. Cows give about 5 liters of milk throughout the year, except during the months of weddings and religious events. But, due to the noise of the DJ playing at events, she is able to produce only about 3 liters of milk. Sometimes the cows get angry due to the noise of the DJ. She breaks the peg and runs away. Then it becomes difficult to express milk again.
Does loud noise or DJ’s annoying sound really make a difference to cows or other milch animals? What does science say? Know in Bhaskar Explainer-
First of all, read the complaint made to the CM regarding this-
Sandeep Singh handed over this letter to CM Yogi, in which a complaint has been made about DJ.
Does the surrounding environment affect cows? According to the National Library of Medicine journal, the environment has a direct impact on cows. The kind and amount of milk a cow will give depends on both its physical and mental health.
Keeping the surrounding environment calm and comfortable has an impact on the milk production of cows. This also includes their care. How the person caring for him/her behaves also has an impact.
Does milk production by cows have anything to do with music? The answer to this question is- Yes. Cow’s milking has a direct connection with music. Many researches were done on this in the last decade. It has been revealed that if light music is played around a cow or any milk-giving animal while milking, it increases their milk-yielding capacity.
According to the National Library of Medicine Journal, in an experiment, when slow and melodious music was played before milking the cows, a difference was seen in their ability to produce milk. At the same time, without any such setup, the milk extracted was less.
The question arises, how does music affect the ability of a cow to give milk? According to the journal Tropical Agricultural Science and the National Library of Medicine, light and melodious music releases the mood-relaxing hormone serotonin in cows. When this stress-reducing hormone is released inside the cows, it has a direct effect on the amount of milk they produce.
According to a report ‘Noise is a factor of environmental stress for cattle’ published in Sciendo Journal in 1991, if there is a sound louder than a certain decibel around milking pets, it has a bad effect on them.
If there is noise of 80 to 100 or more decibels around such animals every day, it can reduce their ability to produce milk.
Know the effects of prolonged exposure to loud noise on milk yielding animals Any kind of loud noise is equally harmful not only for humans but also for animals. Or we can say that animals get harmed more and more quickly than humans. In the last few years, the increasing trend of DJs and the ear-splitting music played by them has become a problem for everyone, from children to old people and even animals.
Now, many researches conducted in the last decade have revealed that if loud noises are made near cows or similar milk-giving pets for a long time, it starts affecting both the quantity and quality of their milk.
Where a human being can remain balanced between a sound of 80 to 100 decibels. At the same time, sounds above 60 decibels become irritating for animals. Effect of loud noise on animals-
- Difficulty in digesting fodder: According to research, such animals including cows have difficulty in digesting fodder when exposed to loud sounds and noise. As a result, their milk production reduces.
- Effect on reproduction: Being surrounded by DJ or similar loud noises also has a negative impact on the reproductive capacity of animals. This can affect their reproductive organs and glands.
- Changes in animal behavior: Just as humans start feeling nervous and irritable within a short time after being in a place with loud music or noise, the same happens with animals too.
- This can be gauged from the change in their behaviour. They become angry and violent. After getting free from that place, they start trying to run away.
