Anshula spoke warmly of her late mother, recalling how Mona took on multiple roles to support her and her brother Arjun Kapoor.

Anshula Kapoor, the daughter of filmmaker Boney Kapoor and late Mona Kapoor, recently opened up about the challenges of growing up in a famous family shadowed by her parents’ divorce. With relatives like uncles Anil and Sanjay Kapoor and siblings Arjun Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor in the film industry, Anshula faced the pressures of living under a public gaze from a young age.

In a recent interview on Hautterfly, Anshula shared how her family became the subject of gossip following her parents’ separation. Reflecting on her childhood, Anshula shared that during the 90s, there was little understanding about how to respond to her family’s circumstances. “Growing up in the 90s, no one really knew what to say when my parents got separated. People started talking about family values, my upbringing, etc. I resigned into my own shell and was trying to figure out what this new normal was all about,” she explained.

Anshula went on to describe life in the Kapoor household. While her father, uncles, and grandmother were often involved with work, Anshula’s mother, Mona, became the central figure in her life. She spoke warmly of her late mother, recalling how Mona took on multiple roles to support her and her brother Arjun. “She was the caretaker, the lovegiver, the problem solver, and the breadwinner. She was both parents in one, and it was like she had ten hands to take care of us,” Anshula said.

Though six years older, Arjun Kapoor had a close relationship with Anshula, and Mona’s parenting was remarkably balanced. Anshula pointed out that their mother never imposed different expectations on them based on gender. “She trusted us. Of course, she never went to sleep until her kids came home, but we had to keep her informed about our plans. We didn’t have specific responsibilities tied to gender,” Anshula explained.
