South Africa will face India one last time in the ongoing T20I series on Friday. The Proteas currently find themselves on the back foot after losing the third fixture in Centurion. The series began with India securing a dominant 61-run victory in the opening fixture. South Africa brought one back, beating the reigning T20I World Champions by three wickets in the second game. With both teams levelled 1-1, all eyes were on the Centurion where India edged their opponents by 11 runs and took the lead. Now both teams will be hoping for a victory at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on November 15.
The 3rd T20I began with South Africa winning the toss and electing to field first. Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for India. Samson failed to make an impact as he was dismissed for a silver duck. Seeing his opening partner depart early, Abhishek formed a formidable partnership with Tilak Varma. The opener added a quick-fire 25-ball fifty whereas Tilak scored 107 runs in 56 deliveries. Another 18-run knock from Hardik Pandya helped India put up 219 runs on the board.
The duo of Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks kicked off the chase for South Africa. Both batters were dismissed by the sixth over, leaving the host side in a complicated situation. That is when Heinrich Klaasen stepped up with a massive 22-ball 41. Marco Jansen scored a lightning-fast 54 in the closing moments but it wasn’t enough for a victory. South Africa ran out of deliveries after racking up 208 runs.
