Sidhu, who reunited with Kapil on The Great Indian Kapil Show, recalled moments when Kapil faced severe challenges, causing many to question his future in comedy. However, Sidhu always believed in Kapil’s ability to entertain the audience.

“When Kapil was not well, he was jittery, he was going through a tough time, people told me he is over,” Sidhu shared in a candid interview on The Grain Talk Show YouTube channel. Sidhu defended Kapil’s potential, asserting that his talent was unparalleled. “You don’t have a genius like him. Talent does what it can do, genius does what he must do,” Sidhu added.

Reflecting on their past, Sidhu fondly expressed a wish to reunite with the original cast members, including Ali Asgar and Sunil Grover, known for their iconic characters on the show. Sidhu mentioned that he recently met Sunil Grover, who portrayed “Gutthi,” and described him as another comedic genius.

“There was dadi (Ali Asgar), and everyone. I wish everyone gets together… Everyone dispersed. Now Gutthi (Sunil Grover) is back. He met me in Goa. He is wonderful. He comes on for 10-15 minutes, he regales everybody. He is another genius,” he said.

Kapil Sharma’s journey to fame was filled with ups and downs. He became a household name through his comedy show, which has adapted over time but remains a top-rated program on Indian television. However, his transition into movie production proved costly. Kapil recently revealed that producing two movies left him bankrupt, leading to a period of depression and immense financial strain.

Kapil also opened up about struggling with alcoholism and the toll it took on his mental health. He shared how he developed anxiety and depression, causing him to cancel shoots and isolate himself at home. This phase left Kapil with an unfavourable reputation as someone whose unreliability often delayed work.

One memorable encounter from this period involved Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, whose scheduled shoot with Kapil was unexpectedly cancelled. Understanding the pressures Kapil faced, Shah Rukh took him aside for a heartfelt conversation, offering support and encouragement. Kapil recalled how Shah Rukh compassionately inquired about his struggles and counselled him.
