Deputy Transport Commissioner of ARTO office of Etawah R. R. Soni did a surprise inspection. During the inspection, he expressed displeasure at the officials after seeing the filth spread in the office and negligence in maintaining the files. The Deputy Commissioner took steps to improve the cleanliness system in the office.

The Deputy Transport Commissioner reviewed the status of revenue collection in the meeting. He said that the owners of 8,743 vehicles in the district have outstanding tax and penalty of about Rs 46 crore, which also includes the dues of the last 20 years. Out of this, an amount of Rs 3.5 crore is outstanding on vehicles registered in the last five years.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the officials to recover the outstanding tax and penalty under the One Time Settlement Scheme (OTS), which could result in a revenue benefit of about Rs 23 crore to the department. He also said that an action plan should be prepared to improve revenue collection and it should be implemented effectively under government schemes.

The Deputy Transport Commissioner directed the officials to prepare and strictly implement a special action plan to increase the revenue.
