On the occasion of Kartik Purnima in Hapur, lakhs of devotees took a dip of faith in the Ganga, the giver of salvation, in the rural fair of Khadar and the urban fair of Brajghat.

On this holy festival, devotees, after taking bath in the Ganges, donate to the poor and destitute and earn virtue by performing various religious rituals. At the same time, due to the arrival of large number of devotees, a jam situation arose on the highway.

25 lakh devotees took bath in the Ganga. On the occasion of the main bathing festival of Kartik Purnima, devotees arrived from various districts of Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Punjab and Western Uttar Pradesh. According to estimates, around 25 lakh devotees took bath in the Ganga. However, despite such a large crowd, the police-administration arrangements could not be completely effective, due to which the devotees had to face some difficulties. Meanwhile, everything remained fine by the grace of Ganga Maiya and the devotees took a dip of faith in the holy river.

Continuation of religious rituals and donations: Devotees who reached Khadar and Brajghat took bath in Ganga with Vedic rituals. During this period, charity work was also in full swing. Devotees performed havan and other religious rituals for the peace of the departed souls.

Also, earned virtue by donating food and clothes to the poor. Especially, after bathing in the Ganga, married women prayed for the long life of their married couples and by filling the mang with vermilion, they wished to remain married forever.

There was massive sale of flowers and worship materials in the fairs. Devotees purchased flowers, incense sticks and other worship materials for Ganga worship. There was a turnover of lakhs of rupees in the sale of marigold, roses and other types of flowers in the fairs of Khadar and Brajghat. Devotees worshiped Mother Ganga with these flowers and attained virtue.

After a long day, the Deepdaan festival ended at sunset, in which devotees prayed for salvation by lighting lamps in the Ganga. After this the devotees started returning towards their destinations.
